The ‘Knight and Day’ actress – who has dated a string of Hollywood hunks, including Justin Timberlake, Jared Leto and Matt Dillon, throughout her career – insists she doesn’t think it is important to stay with one person forever.

She said: “I think the big misconception in our society is that we’re supposed to meet the one when we’re 18 and we’re supposed to get married to them and love them for the rest of our lives. Bulls**t.”

The blonde beauty – who has most recently been romantically linked to baseball star Alex Rodriguez – admitted she thinks being with someone for 80 years is a scary thought, as she would prefer to date different people every five years to “break up” her life a little bit.

She explained to Stylist magazine: “Who would want to be with the same person for 80 years? Why not break it up a little bit? I think people get freaked out about getting married and spending 20 or 30 years sleeping with the same person but if that’s the case, don’t do it.

“Have someone for five years and another person for another five years. Life is long and lucky and yes, love might last forever, but you don’t always live with the person you love forever.”

The Yankees stud and the “Charlie’s Angels” chick left a birthday party at the 40/40 Club and were whisked away to LA via chopper for A-Rod’s upcoming game against the Angels in Anaheim, California this week.

In related news, Rodriguez is trying out his acting chops with a role in the forthcoming comedy “Friends with Benefits.”

Alex joins big names like Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis in the film, which starts filming in New York later this month.

“People always say, ‘Oh, you haven’t changed at all, despite the fame.’ But I believe that fame makes you become who you are more clearly,” says Diaz.

“When all the doors are open for you, you have to set boundaries for yourself. If you don’t have a good upbringing, the danger is that you’ll take advantage of those limitless opportunities, and then you lose your s**t,” she added.

They swung backstage afterward to meet and greet the cast, but Alex and Cameron made sure to pose for photos separately — she smiled for a shot with the group while Alex said hello to the production’s star, former American Idol contestant Constantine Maroulis. Constantine has been causing some drama off the stage as well, after his costar and girlfriend Angel Reed had to leave the production when she got pregnant. Cameron, meanwhile, recently downplayed her romance with Alex, but it seems as though things are still going strong for the publicity-averse duo.

The Yankees may have been in Los Angeles to play the Dodgers, but the real action happened off the field for a pro slugger and a hot Hollywood actress.

Alex Rodriguez and Cameron Diaz made no attempt at hiding their relationship on Friday night when the couple dined at Soho House with friends, including his manager Guy Oseary, who also happens to be manager and longtime business partner of Madonna, A-Rod’s ex.

“A-Rod and Cameron were very cute and affectionate,” says an eyewitness. “They were cuddling and he had his arm around her. You could tell they really like each other.”

The Yankee third baseman and the Material Mom dated back in 2008. One can’t help but wonder what Madge would say about A-Rod’s new girlfriend hanging out with Oseary, her right-hand man.

This isn’t the first time Diaz and Oseary’s paths have crossed, however. In 2000, Oseary made a cameo in her hit flick Charlie’s Angels.
